Ever feel like you’re out there on your own? Like you’re stuck on an island while everyone else is at the beach party? Yeah, we’ve all been there. Maybe you’re facing a tough call at work, dealing with family drama, or just feeling like you’re swimming upstream. In those moments, it’s easy to think God’s checked out, that He’s way up there while you’re down here in the mess.
But get this: Jeremiah 23:23-24 says, “Am I a God at hand,” declares the Lord, “and not a God far away? Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him?” declares the Lord, “Do I not fill heaven and earth?” declares the Lord.
In other words, God’s not social distancing. He’s right there in the thick of it. He fills everything, like how Wi-Fi covers the whole house. He’s not just some cosmic observer; He’s dialed into every detail of your life – the good, the bad, and the downright ugly. And guess what? He cares. Like, really cares.
Remember when you were a kid, learning to read? Those first few phonics lessons were a grind, right? But once it clicked, boom! Reading was a whole new world. Life’s kind of like that. What feels like a major headache now might be the very thing that sets you up for success later. God sees the whole playbook, and He knows some lessons can only be learned by getting your hands dirty.
God’s basically saying, “You can’t hide from me, even if you tried.” He sees your struggles, and trust me, He gets it. His love for us? It’s the real deal – steady, unbreakable, no strings attached. His grace and mercy? Off the charts.
Now, let’s keep it real. Got some skeletons in the closet? Stuff you hope nobody ever finds out? Well, here’s the thing: God sees it all. That little voice in your head, the one that keeps you up at night, that’s your conscience. The only way to ditch that weight is to bring it into the light. Honesty sets you free. And here’s the kicker: God loves you anyway. He wants you to drop the mask, move past the mistakes, and step into the awesome plans He’s got for you. And if you face consequences? He’ll walk through them with you.
God’s closer than you think. He’s got your back. Ask Him for wisdom, and He’ll deliver. Don’t try to go solo. Whether you’re on top of the world or feeling like you’re in a ditch, He wants to be right there with you.
Friends, as we head into Lent, we’re going to dive deeper into this whole “God is closer than you think” thing. We’re launching a Lenten Bible study using John Ortberg’s book, “God Is Closer Than You Think.” We’ll be meeting every Thursday at 10 AM in the fellowship hall, starting March 6th during Lent. Let’s journey together, dig into some truth, and see how God’s showing up in our everyday lives. Come join us! You might just find God’s been in the room the whole time.
Remember, friends, God is closer than you think!
